If I Had It My Way

Wouldn’t it be nice if every day could be your ideal day? Or better yet, you could do anything you wanted to do every. single. day? Yep, that would be pretty nice, but alas, it can not be like that, even with everything going on with COVID19, although one can dream!

For this Visual Assignment, I chose to do the Make My Day activity to add some light at the end of the tunnel in my life when all this chaos ends and I can see my friends. This assignment is worth 3 stars and I am really looking forward to sharing my ideal day with you guys!

8 a.m.: Wake up! I am usually one who does not like to sleep in every day, but since we have been home, I have been getting up around 10 a.m. and I am loathing it. I love being a morning person and I am someone who likes to follow a schedule, but when I have nowhere that I need at then it makes it easier for me to become lazy. So, on my perfect day, I wake up bright and early to get a head start in the day.

8:45 a.m.: After I have laid in bed for a while and picked out what I wanted to wear, I set out to get coffee. Ideally, I would be in Fredericksburg and I would walk downtown to go to my favorite coffee shop: Hyperion. There, I get the smallest double dirty iced chai latte, which has four shots of espresso, and a raisin bran muffin. After I get my drink and muffin, I would sit there for about an hour while listening to a podcast or reading a book.

10 a.m.: With four espresso shots coursing through me, I continue my trek through Downtown Fredericksburg. I love the atmosphere of the historic town and the sense of community that I get when walking through downtown. By this time, I would hit up a couple of antique shops and take a gander of what treasures lie within them.

11:15 a.m.: After wandering around the area for a while, I would go to one of my favorite spots downtown which is Riverby Books. I love reading and this second-hand book shop is so unique and well organized that it fulfills my expectations of what a true bookstore is. I usually cozy up with a book that I found within the stacks by one of the many seating areas that the store provides.

12:30 p.m.: Lunchtime! One of my favorite restaurants downtown is Capital Ale House, and I would go there to get a yummy sandwich or salad.

1:30 p.m.: With my stomach full, I am now entering a food coma. From this point, I would probably find a bench to sit on by the water and wait until I have just enough energy to keep moving forward.

A bench like this would do just fine. I took this picture at UMW

2:00 p.m.: The exploring continues! I love wandering around Fredericksburg because I feel like there is so much beyond the surface of what one normally sees. Another one of my favorite spots is at the top of a parking garage by Brocks. The roof of the building allows me access to overlook most of the town and appreciate a different perspective of the area.

3:00 p.m.: After leaving the rooftop, I continue walking around and enjoying the life that is around me.

5:00 p.m.: My day is beginning to wind down, so by this time I make my way over to the rocks by the river before I head back for dinner. I love sitting by the water and hearing the rapid water pass by me.

6:00 p.m.: It’s around dinnertime and this is probably one of the highlights of my day because it is where I can connect with my friends to share what has happened in each of our days. I love cooking and baking, so on my perfect day, I would cook dinner for my friends and we would all gather around the dinner table.

7:00 p.m.: After dinner is done and everyone is relaxing, I would go into the kitchen to start baking some cookies. Over this past year, I have taken up baking as a hobby and I love having my friends try new recipes to tell me what I could improve on.

8:30 p.m.: Around this time, my friends and I would be gathered around the TV in the living room and watching a movie together.

10:30 p.m.: In my ideal day, I would LOVE to be going to bed around this time because I would want to get up early the next morning to start the day. Although, during this quarantine, I have been going to be super late, so this would be a perfect time for me to make sure I get those 8 hours of rest.

Well, that was my perfect day in Fredericksburg, and back at school. I am hoping we get to go back in the Fall, so I can make this dream a reality. I enjoyed completing this activity and being able to reflect on the little things I missed being able to do before this quarantine. With that being said, this assignment gave me an appreciation of the things I took for granted before COVID19 and how quickly they can be taken away.

Let me know what your perfect day would consist of or if you think we are going to be able to go back to school in the Fall!
